Target Appreciation Post! 1/23/15

Hola my darlings! I'M ALIVE after being super sick for almost a full week. Oh the perks of being a preschool teacher. Well before I got sick I managed to head out to my favorite store and buy a couple of goodies! Check out the haul!

First I picked up the e.l.f. cream eyeliner. I have to say this is one of my favorite eyeliners. It goes on really smooth, and the little brush that comes with it makes it very easy to get a winged look. The only downside is  I get very oily eyelids and it does smudge on me. Using a lid primer does help though!

My favorite section at Target is the under $20 gift section. They always have the most random things there. I saw this notepad and HAD to get it! Too freakin cute right?!?! The cheese is sticky notes and the cat and mouse are regular pads. They are almost too cute to use!

Next I got this e.l.f. brush set on sale in the beauty section. I believe it came with 10 brushes from a Christmas gift set. I'm always looking for brushes so I thought it would be a good buy! I want to say they were only like $6! And I bought the holder from the dollar section. It's my favorite color, so I had to!

And my last purchase was this chalk board from the dollar section as well! (it was $3 though) Not really sure how many uses I'll get out of it, but it is very cute. When buying inexpensive chalk boards, it's best to use a chalkboard marker instead of regular chalk. It doesn't take as much finish off the board when cleaning! Now I gotta figure out something cute to write on it...

What have you bought from Target recently?

Eating My Way Through Disneyland!

Hmm, what do I love most about Disneyland? The rides? The characters? The shopping? I would have to say all of the above. But as a self proclaimed foodie, the yummy goodies there in the park are what I look forward to the most. There is so much to blog about at The Happiest Place on Earth, but I'm going to dedicate this post to all the delicious food there. Here's just a taste of some of my favorites!

Well, the first night I got cotton candy wasted, and it was all down hill from there...

The next morning we got Mickey shaped beignets covered in powered sugar and mint juleps! (non-alcoholic of course, they don't serve alcohol in Disneyland). Such a yummy sweet treat!

For dinner we went to the Blue Bayou, which is the restaurant inside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. This has got to be my favorite place to eat in the whole park. The meat is always so tender, and the potatoes are to die for.  (The pictures don't do it justice) Plus, eating under the lanterns makes it all the more magical!

Disneyland's famous corn dogs, and ice cream, and pineapple Dole whip floats...oh my! Do I spy a hidden Mickey?

You can't go to Disneyland without eating one of these little beauties. And just in case you were wondering, yes, everything does taste better Mickey shaped.

And last but not least...the lobster nachos at Cove Bar in California Adventure. My mouth waters just thinking about them! Since it opened, coming here is a must for every Disney trip. Delicious food and drinks, plus it is right out on the water by Paradise Pier. Amazing food and an amazing view, what more could you ask for?

What is your favorite food at Disneyland?

My Jump From Paper Bag!

I've recently discovered the handbag company Jump From Paper, and I'm obsessed! All of their bags look like they have literally jumped off of a cartoon page! They have a great selection of wallets, backpacks, purses and satchels to choose from, each of them bright and popping with color! I bought one last week and every time I use it I get so many compliments! If you are a purse junkie like me, I would suggest checking them out! To get to their website click here .

Would you buy a cartoon bag?

What Is The Color of 2015?

Every year Pantone picks one color to be the color of the year. This color sets trends in fashion, home decor, and everything in between. The color this year is...drum roll please...MARSALA!

I'm absolutely in love with this color. It has such a romantic feel to it. Pantone describes it as a "subtly seductive shade, that draws us into it's embracing warmth".

And just in case you were wondering, here are colors from years past!
Do you like the color Marsala?

Turning Negatives into Positives

Well, 2015 is already off to a rough start. My grandmother passed away the night of January first. I felt so many emotions all at once. I was in shock she is actually gone from this world. I was mad that she had to pass on January first, the first day of new beginnings and starting over. I was enraged that the first page of my 365 page book has to read, "my grandmother died". I felt a rush of memories of her come over me; her soft skin, her smell, the way she called me "sweetie girl". All these things I would never experience again.

After being a hot crying mess all night, I woke up this morning feeling at peace. I could either let this destroy the rest of my year, or I can rise above the horrible feelings and celebrate this woman's amazing spirit. She lived to be 92 years old, such a blessing to live such a long and fulfilled life. Now every new year I can celebrate her life, and remind myself that she is watching over me. Her passing will remind me that life is not a promised thing. That every second you have on this Earth is a gift, a gift that you can choose to use wisely or waste away. Her passing has fulled me to go after my dreams and live every moment like it is my last.

Changing my perception of the situation has put me at peace. There is a silver lining to every situation, even though sometimes it can be hard to see at first. Promise me you'll always try to find the positive in a negative situation.

I also want to thank all the people who have reached out to me. I have some amazing family members, coworkers, and friends who put my family in their prayers. The amazing boy I'm dating took me out to In-n-Out (my favorite burgers), Fenton's ice cream parlor, and watched Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion with me to get my mind off things. I am a very lucky girl.

Here's our yummy ice cream from Fenton's!

And my beautiful grandma when she was 21! I absolutely love old pictures.

Looking forward to a better 2015!
