Christmas Time in San Francisco

I'm convinced that San Francisco during the holidays is one of the most magical places ever. The streets are busy with the bustle of people shopping. Every store display and cable car is decorated ever so beautifully. And so many Christmas trees are perfectly trimmed. It's unlike anything I've ever seen.

This past weekend I stayed a night at the absolutely beautiful Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. I totally felt like Eloise at The Plaza! (Side note, I must thank Groupon for this amazing hotel deal). It was such a fun little getaway, and totally put me in the Christmas Spirit! Here are a few snaps from my trip!

The view from our hotel room, overlooking San Francisco!

The gorgeous hotel lobby at the Fairmont! That'a a real gingerbread house in the background, made with real candy!

 Ya know...just lounging...

They gave us robes in our hotel room. I felt fancy.

Are you going on any trips for the holiday?

First Impression: Tarte Eye Primer

I'm always on the hunt for a good eye shadow primer. As someone with very oily skin, if I just put eye shadow on without a primer it's creased in 15 minutes. Even with some primers it's creased in an hour and I just spent all that time doing my make-up for nothing. I usually use Urban Decay's Primer Potion, but I heard about Tarte's and decided to give it a try. I must say, it's as good as Urban Decay's, if not better. I put my eye shadow on during the day and it lasted a good 10-11 hours into the night until it creased. I just squirt a little dab on my finger and apply it until I have a nice layer covering my eyelid. I wait between 3-5 minutes to apply my eye shadow to make sure that it is completely dry before I get to work. If you are in an eye primer rut I would totally recommend this product. I was very pleasantly surprised!

What eye primer do you use?

Target Appreciation Post!

This weekend on a boring Saturday afternoon, I just so happened to stroll into Target, because I realized I haven't walked around my favorite store in a while. I walk in and see Christmas EVERYWHERE! In the dollar section, in the women's clothes section, in the men's clothes section, in its own Christmas section!!! I spent a good almost 2 hours just walking around in everything Christmas. I held back in buying a lot, but I did have to splurge and buy myself some Christmas goodies!

I bought Ghirardelli peppermint hot chocolate, men's skull socks from the dollar section, a kitty Christmas sweatshirt from the men's section, and the "Merry" banner. I also bought a banner that says "fa la la la la" but I forgot to put it in the picture (oops).

Are you buying Christmas stuff yet??

Weekly Target Appreciation Post

Ok friends, I have a confession...I'm obsessed with Target. Well, I guess you already knew that...but saying it out loud is the first step to recovery right?

I try to go to Target at least once a week. Shopping at Target after a long day of work with a Starbucks in hand can cure just about any problem...I'm sure of it. On these weekly Target trips I think, ponder, and retail therapy myself into a happy Target drunkenness. I head home with a bag filled with things I don't need and a huge smile on my face. (wow I really do have a problem) Well friends, I think this will be my first Target Appreciation Post where I will list all the wonderful magical things I bought at Target for the week. I'm actually quite proud and only bought 2 items, but might I say they both are pretty great.

First up, a doughnut sweater. I mean...why wouldn't you want a doughnut sweater? This was priced at $22.99

The other item...or should I say items...I bought were mini party hats from the Oh Joy! collection. ($5 for a pack of 8 hats) They are so cute and fit perfectly on my little head. Be ready friends, on my next birthday I'm breaking these suckers out for a night on the town!

That's all for this week! Let me know if you like my Weekly Target Appreciation Posts...or if I should actually find something interesting to blog about.

Toodles!

How to get more traffic on your blog

As a new blogger my biggest question is, "how do I get people to read my blog?"..."is anyone going to like my blog?"..."oh wow how did I get 20 views!?...oh...that was all just me"...

Well my friends, I did a little internet search on how to get more traffic to your blog, and I found some good advice. Here are some of my favorites...

  1. Be timeless...write things that could be read a year from now.
  2. Write short posts, nobody likes to read novels from people they don't know
  3. Be snarky (i love that word)
  4. Coin a term or two
  5. Write about blogging (I guess that's what I'm doing now?)
  6. Don't be boring
  7. Dress your blog as well as you would dress for a meeting
  8. Don't blog about you cat, boyfriend, and kids (oops...already broke that rule...)
  9. Post things people want to read
And most importantly...

Don't blog to be famous. Don't blog to get views. Blog for yourself, and people will read it.

Happy Blogging!
